Waterfront Living South Golden Beach
Waterfront living was the choice for the owners of this beach house in South Golden Beach. Having two kids aged ten and seven, years the brief was plenty of room on a small budget. The decision then was to choose materials that wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg and so keep the mortgage to a minimum.
Lightweight construction was the choice with easily painted plywood cladding and timber platform floor. This was a large home with plenty of bang for their buck. Polished hardwood floors were chosen for their easy care, and healthy qualities.
This home has a separate office and large main bedroom with ensuite, as well as a media room for the kids and living areas opening out onto a large verandah. The children’s bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs. A large wide formal passageway through the middle of the house from the entry to the back verandah enables you to walk in the front door and see a water view. This also creates the perfect breezeway effect as it draws cool air from the water and funnels it in through the entire home, creating natural air conditioning. The beach is one hundred metres away so an outside shower is a necessity.
Every room of this house has a view of the water, and the owners can crab and fish from the verandah creating another fabulous north coast lifestyle. Barefoot Building Design specialises in light, spacious homes that let fresh air flow through to create a healthy living environment.
