Ocean views home Ocean Shores
Ocean views from every room was the brief for this Ocean Shores home. A one hundred and eighty degree ocean view was the obvious feature of this vacant block. The owner wanted to be able to check the surf out from every room.
He wanted his dream house perched on the crest of a hill so he could see the ocean and never miss a surf.
This two storey residence with a pool has huge first floor covered verandahs with plenty of room to entertain all the friends who constantly drop in.
Downstairs are two bedrooms and a laundry and bathroom for the overnight visitors.
Upstairs is all living and luxury with everything a man could want including enough wall space on the west wall to create his own surf art gallery and surfboard museum, polished hardwood timber floors and high raking ceilings with high-light windows give this home that element of space and light.
This project was about bringing in all the elements that a north coast lifestyle is about. Waking up in the morning to a fabulous sunrise and sitting on the back deck in the afternoon having a cold beer watching the sun go down. What more could a man want?
Again, it’s all about letting the sunshine in to warm the house up in the winter. Fully insulated walls and floors are a standard requirement. Wide eaves and window awnings to the west keep it all cool during the hot northern summer afternoons. Solar passive design and sustainability is not rocket science. It is simply and easily built in to every Barefoot Building Design.
