Building Design and Drafting Services
Building design is not the only skill that Rob Acton brings to the table. Rob works with his associates to not only deliver building design but to also draw up the contruction plans for your dream home. His projects vary from small affordable housing and renovation plans to large luxurious homes. His experience is vast and as he started out a licensed builder he understands the construction process inside out. Having had that experience, he knows what to incorporate into his construction drawings to make construction straight forward.
Building design services and drafting up house plans are not all that Barefoot Building Design can provide. Business associate Jennifer Fair from Jennifer Fair Interiors can organise the colours, design and interiors for you. Together they can deliver a superior result for your building design project.
Sustainable building design
Rob has experience utilising sustainable building materials into his designs. Rammed earth and straw bale are two of them. He is open to any energy saving ideas or technology that can be incorporated into the house plan. Water tanks and solar power are only two of these resource saving ideas. Solar passive design is something that he always considers in the orientation of his buildings and this ensures that maximum use of natural sunlight warms the house and reduces the need to use the electricity for lighting and heating.
Barefoot Building Design features articles about construction techniques, building design and issues relating to their local region on the Northern Rivers NSW.
Affordable Housing is a hot topic Byron Bay Shire
Affordable housing was on the agenda for the Byron Shire Council in 2011. It was then that they voted to relax the rules substantially to encourage growth in the shire for this sector.
Straw bale building construction
There are advantages and disadvantages to building with straw bale from a building design perspective. It is good practise to weigh up all the pros and cons before deciding on a building method even it it seems like an eco friendly idea.
Why Rammed Earth Construction?
When you look closely at earth homes, you’ll notice faint lines and marks on the surface. These are part of the story of rammed earth and come straight from the form boards used in the construction process.
